**Special Update: How to Get Involved with Food Recovery During the COVID-19 Pandemic**

Find a volunteer opportunity to support COVID-19 response efforts on the Mayor’s Volunteer Corps Portal here. There are several opportunities listed that support food recovery efforts.

Seeking volunteers? Post a Volunteer Opportunity Related to Food Recovery on the Mayor’s Volunteer Corps Portal:

1- Complete this intake form.

2- The Mayor’s Volunteer Program will create you an account and post your opportunity at the Mayor’s Volunteer Corps Portal.

3- You will receive an email once your opportunity is posted.

4- You will then receive an email every time someone signs up for an opportunity.

5- Mayor’s Volunteer Program staff will provide additional support. Please contact or with any questions.

Do you want to see your neighborhood cleaner? Do you want to find ways to help reduce the waste you create? Here are some of the ways you can get started! Click a section to expand and learn more.

Search the Litter Index and find resources available on your block.

The Litter Index is a detailed, indexed map of litter conditions throughout Philadelphia. Enter your address in the Litter Index search bar, and you’ll see your block and neighborhood litter scores and an information box that lists resources available to help you clean up your block and make sure it stays that way.

Host a clean up.

Check out our Community Cleaning and Greening FAQ for the basics on how to host a clean up in your neighborhood.

Spread the word.

On this website, you’ll find spotlights of community members and programs that are fighting the good fight against waste and litter. One of the most important things you can do is share how you’re reducing waste with your friends and neighbors. Use the hashtag #CleanPHL, and if you haven’t already, be sure to follow us on twitter and facebook @CleanPHL!

Start composting.

Install a garbage disposal, learn how to set up your own backyard composting system, or have your compost picked up by a local hauler. Learn about composting in Philly.

Take Zero Waste actions.

From avoiding products with unnecessary packaging to carrying a reusable water bottle with you to donating unneeded items instead of throwing them away, there are many small actions that you can take today that lead to large reductions in waste. See our list of Zero Waste Tips.
